Getting the 2024Super Bowlhalftime show off the ground wasn’t all smooth sailing.
On Friday,Lil Jon— who acted as musical director of the performance and appearing for “Turn Down for What” and “Yeah!” — opened up about the “hardest part” of putting togetherUsher’sset onTheJennifer HudsonShow.
“Putting this show together was really hard because it’s Usher’s biggest show of his career, so like, we really had to think about that and formulating the set list. With him, it’s his biggest show, so we had to listen to him and his direction in a sense of he might want to come back and want to change things because he’s thinking about it more and more and doesn’t want to alienate some fans,” the “Act a Fool” rapper (whose real name is Jonathan Smith), 53, told Jennifer Hudson.

He added: “It’s so many songs, it’s like, which songs don’t make it? It was a lot of work, and that was the hardest part of it.”
Lil Jon explained that the “U Got It Bad” singer “made changes until the very end” when it came to his set list.
The talk show host, 42, then pointed out that she imagined skating was a challenging part of the show.
“Did you skate? Would you skate?” Hudson asked, to which Lil Jon replied: “No I can’t skate. No ma’am.”
He continued: “I be falling. I’ll just stick to this part — ‘Yeah!'”
