Lala Kentis opening up about why she stays sober.
While chatting with PEOPLE exclusively at the Brent Shapiro Foundation Summer Spectacular, theVanderpump Rulesalum, 33, revealed that although she stays sober for herself, she also stays sober for her 2½-year-old daughter, Ocean.
“Sobriety’s the best gift I’ve ever given to myself, and I can’t allow my daughter to ever see that version of me,” Kent tells PEOPLE.
“I am approaching one day at a time, but I’m approaching five years of sobriety and my daughter’s 2½, so I stay sober obviously for me, because if you stay sober for someone else, that’s just a recipe for relapse,” she says.
“But to think about the fact that my child is always going to see me in this form and never under the influence, you can’t put a price on that,” Kent adds. “I am very grateful I found sobriety when I did.”

She also notes that her daughter has reached a few important milestones recently, including potty training.
Kent shares her daughter with exRandall Emmett.
“I’m so over the mom shaming from some of you women. I’m a parent, I work full time, rarely have a moment just for me, and for just a second on the 4th of July I felt hot and wanted a picture," she wrote.
She added, “Anything but praise is unwelcome. If you have anything negative to say go f— yourself. Leave me alone.”
The reality star went on to notethat Ocean andScheana Shay’s 2-year-old daughter Summer, who was featured in a separate photo in the initial post, weren’t present during the photo shoot.
“For the record, the kids weren’t watching me take this picture,” she wrote. “And even if they were, we all have butts. Take time to love on yours.”
