Two days ago I compose one of the harshest inspection that has ever appeared on Gizmodo . It was forthe LG G2 , which was guess to be the company ’s flagship Android phone for the year , but it was just bad . I was n’t shy about saying so . I was so unshy , in fact , that LG strain to get me fired for it .
But now here I sit , two year later , with LG ’s G4 in my pocket . And infer what ? It ’s the best phone I ’ve ever used .

Preface
For the platter , at the time , I was broadly speaking consider one of Gizmodo ’s nice reviewers , and this mudsling really surprise my colleagues . Here ’s the thing , though : I bear behind every word of that . The software was just horrific and it rendered what should have been a very good earphone utterly unusable .

Holy bull , I make love this phone . I intend , the experience of using it compared to the G2 is absolutely night and day , and it ’s almost entirely because of the package .
LG had put a skin over the G2 that was unfeignedly dreadful . It supplant very good Google apps with very spoiled in - house apps . It was cluttered and unintuitive . It was slow and unworthy . I still retrieve how plaguey it was to employ and the feeling of my cortisol tier rising .

The LG G4 runs Android better than Google ’s own Nexus line . Much better , in fact . Lollipop is beautiful computer software , but it has some operation problems . undecided apps and process seem to accumulate until there ’s just no RAM leave , and then the speech sound slow down to a crawl . I signify , tack between apps will take always and even typecast becomes an exercise in futility . And I ’m talking about using the Nexus 6 , the Nexus 9 , the Nexus 7 , the Nexus 5 , and even the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition . They have all of the same major lag . The G4 does n’t have that trouble . That ’s huge .

There ’s more to love than that , though . The G4 does n’t feel nearly as gigantic as the Nexus 6 , and as a result it ’s infinitely easy to use one - handed . And then there ’s the camera which takessome truly gorgeous photos .
No , it ’s not perfect . I ’m still not into having my business leader push button on the back , which makes it really tough to reach when it ’s , say , in my car mount , and the dialer app is still kind of a cluttered mess , but these are little offence that I can live with , because it runs Android better than any other earpiece I ’ve used , it has solid shelling animation , and a photographic camera that I have a go at it using .
It ’s a massive turnabout . Way bigger than we ordinarily see . normally when a company is as out - to - dejeuner as LG was when it made the G2 it takes many generations before it even start get its clobber together . It took LG two . Two iterations . It ’s really telling .
I ’m compose this because I desire other companies will see this example and follow wooing . We see so many product that could be great if the company that made them had just had the wherewithal to get out of its own way of life . With the G4 , it seems as if LG was at last unforced to disinvest its ego off and let go of the compulsive need to make the phone all about them . rather they made the phone that citizenry wanted , and I ’m willing to bet that they ’ll deal a whole flock more of them .
