Jerardo Arciniega : When I saw this calendar week ’s challenge I knew I want my pic to be of a race . Unfortunately I was under the weather condition most of the week and therefore did n’t go outside much . Because of that , I decide to do a race with a few toys I had . I set up the Lego Mario and Luigi next to a polish line of work and pushed a toy machine behind them to create the blur .

I ’m still young to having a DSLR , so having a chance to really have fun with the exposure place setting was a substantial goody ! Well , almost . I wound up not being able to fritter away this until Sunday due to a blizzard . I wanted to enamor just how busy Philly is , so I remain firm straight in the middle of Broad Street . For about 30 proceedings , I braved near 20 degree temperatures without most protection , and it was n’t until the end I receive the injection I want . At one point someone started eying up my camera , which had to be the most hazardous part of shooting this , frostbit be damned .
Tracy Miller : My Clarence Day at the museum . My ally and I needed to get out of the cold , so we make up one’s mind to take his challenge inside . We spent the day at the National Gallery in DC . I shoot this with my Canon Rebel T3i using a 50 mm lens with a 3 2nd photo at F11 . My ISO was fructify at 2000 .

Bob Zimway : I really thought this might be an easier competition for me as I ’ve been doing a great deal of long pic shots during daytime of late . but man , mass move much faster than you think .
I was in morro bay this weekend and there was a farmer ’s market happen and I really thought this would be a great opportunity to rule a topic and setup my tripod and camera . I wandered around look for a skillful candidate and this adult female had a very interesting “ chapeau ” ( I ’m still not certain what variety of animal it represented but it had ears and was bleary and the “ arms ” had scoop for her hands although she did n’t always apply them in the shots ) so I take her permission if I could snap her while customers vibrate explaining that she would need to keep very still .
she was quite sceptical at first but I convert her I was on the up - and - up and remove about 60 shots overall . this is the honest that come out because a ) hoi polloi move really fast in 3 second and b ) my subject would tend to move and c ) a bunch of stab had people between her and the lens .

Peter Welch : This photo was taken in business district Puerto Vallarta , Mexico looking over the boardwalk out to sea . We were enjoying a beer in a open - window seat at a bar across from the noted “ Sea Horse ” statue ( a symbolisation for the metropolis ) . The balmy eventide attracted a crowd of tourists mixed with local families , and a small group of street dancers had rig up some boomboxes for their performance . I only had my Casio Exilim point - and - frivol away , and no tripod , so I equilibrate the camera on the windowpane shelf . Using the camera ’s built - in “ night panorama ” context , the shutter stayed loose about 2 - 3 seconds .
Jeremy Klukan : Seattle has an awful sensible horizon , and there are n’t many vistas that ticktock the position from across Elliott Bay in West Seattle , look directly toward downtown and the celebrated Space Needle . My subject here , however , is the cargo ship in the bay . Other ships kept be adrift past it , and in this 20 - second photograph , they get to the stationary vessel a “ warp stop number ” sort of upshot ( the black and ruby blur is actually from another similar ship ) . The long photo shine out the water , include the waves slosh up against the rocky beach , and give the ship a sort of surrealism . Lucky for me , it was n’t rocking back and forth , so it ’s actually in focus , and the city at twilight creates a nice ground for the scene .
ISO 100 , 20 - s shutter , 0.0 ev exposure , f/22 aperture in shutter priority using an 18 - 55 mm kit lens with a ND4 filter at dusk . Edited in Photoshop to crop , do a snatch of spot healing to off a muzzy detritus speck , and summate a vignette .

Not much of a story behind this … came across the photo challenge , was out buying shoes in a rather busy store ( unremarkably is on Saturday ) and so I gave it a twisting , deciding to make the shoes my frozen objects while the people around me smudge away .
I chose this one because I like the colors which the blurry masses are wearing which contrasts with the blue skateboard .
Using a Canon 500D 18 - 55 mm lense . I shoot for 2 sec at f/8 , ISO 100 . I used lightroom to tweek to file .

The Technique :
- I set up a lazy Susan on a platform with swarm - trickle good afternoon sunlight angling directly at the apparatus . I rate my camera on a little , pouch tripod on one side of the turntable , and arranged the subject on the other side of the turntable . I set up the camera to timekeeper mode , triggered the shutter , and then slowly walked the turntable in a Mexican valium while the camera went through its cycle . It took a few tries before I found the correct shutter speed , since rotating the lazy Susan produce a significantly dissimilar promiscuous level through the grade of the rotation , but eventually adjudicate on 3 seconds . I choose this particular aperture because I make out that the motion would sharply furcate the subject from the nicely blur background , so I felt detached to opt a large f - stop to both ensure the entire subject would be in sharp focus , and to allow a slower shutter velocity to bring home the bacon for a greater blurring issue . Post - processing was performed in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 , and involved some fine - tuning of the various elements of the vulnerability , cropping to the contest dimensions , and a touch of vignetting .
The fib :
- As I was considering how to render a subject in sharp focus while blurring the backdrop , I noticed a turntable in my kitchen , and realized that if I put both a television camera and a field on a turntable and spun it during a long exposure , I ’d have a absolutely blurred screen background and a perfectly penetrative subject in the same frame . After a few psychometric test under a few different ignition conditions and locations , I settled on the subdued , cloud - filtered afternoon sun descend through my kitchen window as the origin . I tossed a chiffon throw blanket over the lazy Susan , kick upstairs one segment with a low box , and place a couple of figurines as the case . I substantiate that the movement of the lazy Susan would completely classify the case from the background , so I chose a turgid f - check so as to render the intact subject in perfect focus , knowing that the motion would simultaneously render the ground as a perfectly legato field of blur . It took a few tries to get the shutter speed and technique decent , but eventually I figured out the legerdemain of walking the turntable around at just the correct swiftness , and settled on a shutter speed of three sec . I also had to work out what range of a function of backgrounds to represent in the pic , because over the full 360 degrees of possible rotation , some segment of background were good than others found on the layout of my house .
Chris Ondrus : I decided to take the challenge and photograph a fussy intersection airless to my house . My thought was to use the plosive consonant signaling as the capable matter and since light does not stop and it ’s uninterrupted I think this while would be an interesting line . Since we are turn up in the Washington DC area , I was surprise no one ask what the hell we were doing take in characterisation at dark in the middle of the street !
For the tools and camera options I have a Cannon EOS Rebel and I used a 30 2nd exposure with the nonremittal ISO . The hard part was focusing the camera on something so could get the camera to take the picture ( remember it ’s dark out ) .
Trey Mortensen : I took this shot outside my flat Friday nighttime as I was waiting for a friend to come over . I had done a shot similar to this a yr ago and I need to practise it again with my own cogwheel . I tried using an external flash , but because the only twinkling I have is my mom ’s Nikon ( yes I know it ’s like having a Chevy railway locomotive in a Ford consistency or vice versa ) , I do n’t make love the glasses of the flash . Funny enough , as I was contract this , some fille walked up and asked if I did photo shoots . So moral of the story is to have your tv camera out in the open and hoi polloi will ascertain you .

Shot in Times Square , New York . It was the only means to make them “ stand out ” amidst a sea of tourists . The only teaching give to the couple : “ prevail a kiss for 3 second . ” . They happily bind .
Benjamin Lanon : The Underground Rush . Once again this Gizmodo shot challenge comes at the right time . I ’ve been want to take a picture of rush hour in public transportation system for a while but never thought of doing so with one subject standing still . So I inquire my supporter to aid me out while I shot this exposure of her in Saint Lazare station in Paris . This stead is pretty bad to change through because masses walk in all directions at the same time . I think we were become to feel a lot of trouble , but we really struggled having a constant menstruum of people walking by … Several element are representative of the Paris metro here : the man shell music in his phone , the big scar the girl is wearing on the left wing ( it ’s cold ) , and the cheap beer can probably allow here by a homeless .

I dropped of our teen girl and her friend at the mall . I was hanging out meter reading emails and listening to music on my iPhone . Waiting for fille to finish their shopping is n’t a big bargain anymore because all that I need to entertain myself is on my iPhone . Like most people who are glued to their smartphones , it ’s really like the world was going on around me and I do n’t even notice .
