The comet passed closer to Mars than any comet has ever passed by Earth in recorded history — so scientist are emotional to see what the craft orbiting Mars made of it . Believe it or not , this is the “ highest - result view ever evolve of a comet coming from the Oort Cloud at the fringe of the solar system . ”

What does it reveal ? Well , the image — study from a space of 86,000 stat mi — show the size of the comet ’s nucleus to be under a tail of a mile across . That ’s just half the size of previous prevision of its size . We ’ll have to wait to see more prototype of the rare event before we line up out more . [ NASA ]
