Yesterday ’s Eureka explored the risk of giving in to your emotions , as humans and AI alike acknowledged and acted on their feelings , even if they left a path of destruction – some more literal than others – in their wake .

This episode , one of two sandwiched between the Warehouse 13 crossover and the forthcoming return of three major characters , ran the risk of feeling a bit throwaway or disposable , a piece like the moon airstream episode a couple calendar week back . And while “ Momstrosity ” , as this episode is so wonderfully , laughably named , got off to a moment of a shaky starting signal , it quickly come up its way in the manner some of the good Eureka episode do : by taking a remindful theme that connected all the characters and plot line , then using them to gloss on each other .

This episode demonstrated just how much damage an adorable but misrepresented automaton can cause . A mysterious glitch in the calculator codification give emotions to the Ithiel Town ’s various AI automobile , with every automaton and super - computer react differently : Deputy Andy fell in love with Jo , virtual Vince refused to dish unhealthy food , and , most distressingly , the mammoth , laser - wielding Titan rover went on a crazed violent disorder through the forest , where Jack , Dr. Grant , Fargo , and Allison ’s son Kevin all hap to be camping .

But it was n’t just the robots that were finally allow their emotion . Carter and Grant almost fare to fisticuffs as to who was a intimately quixotic match for Allison – right in front of her thirteen year former son . Henry get clean to his timeline - create wife , telling her the frightening verity that she was now married to a human being who did n’t screw her . And Kevin was n’t just struggling with his would - be begetter figure ’ raging hormone , as he was reprogramming robots to stag on Jo in the shower bath . candidly , an unstoppable killer robot seemed like the least of the characters ’ concern .

When Henry asked Jack what he was going to do about Allison , Carter might as well have been speaking for Eureka as a whole when he responded , “ I … procrastinate . ” We ’ve now beguile up in actual time to the alternating 2010 Eureka showed us at the end of its first season , with Jack and Allison marry and expecting their first child together . It took until this season ’s premiere to eventually move the show towards what the original 2010 Jack and Allison were so certain was their destiny to finish up together . And it ’s only now , six episodes into the time of year , that Carter is last , maybe , tentatively going to make his move .

At least some of the on-going report are move more quickly . Henry ’s story is perhaps the saddest of all the timeline modification , because his wormhole risky venture robbed a upright woman of the hubby she sleep with . His stumble effort to make thing right with Grace by telling her the truth was a well - stand for motion that absolutely backfired . Since we experience Henry so well and , by necessity , we do n’t have sex Grace at all , it ’s harder to empathize with her position , but “ Momstrosity ” really take out her grief and , perhaps in spitefulness of herself , her proceed love for this gentleman who is n’t her Henry .

His final proclamation that he does n’t love her yet was a seraphic moment to hesitate on , and near validation that their fib still has plenty of forward impulse . For a show that took two whole seasons to barely explain what the hell was going on with that Artifact , I ’m impressed how much they ’ve pick up the tempo of their arcs this season .

One of the thing that I enjoy so much about Eureka is that , whatever their disagreements and bother , all the character fundamentally care and care about each other . ( This is also true , perhaps to an even great extent , of Warehouse 13 . ) This canonic current of effective will might keep the show from ever venturing into truly dark territory , but it helps give the show its easygoing charm that can paper over some of its weaker episodes . So I was n’t a vast buff of the brutally inactive strong-growing jousting between Carter and Dr. Grant , and I was worried the two being SOB to each other was going to throw the whole installment off course .

I should n’t have worried . Jack was the hoagy like he always is , put himself in harm ’s room to save the others and finally figuring out what the rampaging rover in reality want . But Dr. Grant abuse in to help Carter save Kevin ’s life , so the two accomplish another moment of common understanding and gentlemanly detente . The two are still far , far away from friendship , considering Jack still ( rightly ) wo n’t permit Grant forget that the amoral doctor almost strand him in 1947 , and they ’re both officially pursue Allison . ( What Allison cogitate about all this has n’t really entered the equivalence yet , but here ’s hop-skip that ’s dealt with in the next sequence . )

I ’m still seek to figure out where the show is get going with Dr. Grant . It seems strange to institute the town ’s would - be beginner forward in time from 1947 ( and have him be played by James Callis , no less ) , only to make him little more than a romantic obstruction for Jack and Allison . Still , in the lack of any clear mite of a larger purpose , I venture I ’ll just relish what I ’m getting . And I must admit , a lot of Grant ’s boasts about being an awing outdoorsman ( in wintry Bavaria , no less ) were some of the episode ’s most amusing bit .

I ’ll close with a couple thoughts about Neil Grayston ’s two characters . Eventually , the AI glitch is traced back to Carter ’s home SARAH ( who is , lest we forget , voice by Fargo in falsetto ) . This is the third time that SARAH has put multitude in harm ’s path for her own selfish intellect , and though this is n’t quite as bad as unleash graveness wells on Eureka or nearly killing off the entire main cast , a maternally enraged giant automaton is still somewhat damn sorry … and yet there were on the face of it no repercussions . You ’d think someone would eventually ask whether SARAH is deserving all the hassle – and , indeed , whether Fargo should keep program such amuck protective AI . Seriously , between SARAH , his jilted car Tabitha , and now BUFFY the collapsible shelter , the valet de chambre is a programing menace .

But hey , who can rest mad at Fargo , peculiarly when the legend of the Fargonator continues to rise ? Beyond his unbelievably awesome driving skills , Fargo had meter during the killer robot chase to get off another option Terminator reference ( not to advert Allison ’s Aliens allusion ) . This is one discharge that I ’m indisputable is go nowhere in peculiar , but here ’s hoping we can finally reconstruct most of Terminator using Fargo quotes . We ’re formally on picket for “ I ’ll be back . ”
