The Olympics is all about grand effort of athletic art and endurance evidence by its competitors . But for the folk behind the scenes , it ’s barely a political party . In fact , locomotive engineer running data center around the Olympics will be sleeping in these tiny pod next to their data processor the whole time .
A company calledInterxion , establish right in the nub of the domain where the Olympics is take place in the summertime , understandably has quite demanding standards for its employees . Still , it should mean that when things go wrong — and this is a data center , it ’s definitely a case of when , not if — its stave should be able-bodied to respond pretty apace . Greg McCulloch , UK Managing Director of Interxion , explains :
“ Due to the nature of our line of work we need to be ready for all eventuality and while we are excited to have the Olympics in London we also need to be sure that we can continue to offer the high level of resilience to our customers . ”
The pods themselves were made byUK - based Podtime . They ’re modular — designed to stack up on top of each other — and were in the beginning destine to be used for power pile in the work . They ’ve recently been adapt , however , to be more comfortable for longer stay — with TV , radio and computing facilities — which is fortunate for the guys who are kick the bucket to be living in them for a fortnight .
