Ashton Kutchermay have had a little bit of a birdbrain moment — but “it’s the thought that counts,” says wifeMila Kunis.

“Birds [were] nesting outside of our kitchen window, and my daughter and I and my son get so into watching [them],” theWonder Parkvoice actress says of the couple’s childrenDimitri Portwood, 2, andWyatt Isabelle, 4.

“So for Valentine’s Day, Ashton got me two little lovebirds … and we took them to the bird lady you recommended,” she tells DeGeneres, 61. “And when we brought our little lovebirds in to get their nails trimmed or, you know, things that people do with birds, she informed us that we, in fact, didnothave lovebirds but instead have parakeets.”

“[Parakeets are], like, $10,” jokes the host. “Lovebirds are more expensive!”

“[Ashton] called aPetco-like store and they were like, ‘Yes, come in, we have lovebirds.’ So he walked in and they’re like, ‘These are lovebirds!’ ” recalls Kunis.

The family isn’t sweating it too badly, though, considering they are now the owners of two “beautiful” parakeets that are blue and teal in color.

“But they’re not lovebirds, guys, ’cause that’snotwhat lovebirds look like,” Kunis tells the audience.

And with their “friendly” disposition, they might as well be lovebirds! Says the actress with a laugh, “We’re like, ‘Ohlook, they’re so in love!’ ”
