We spent the weekend skiing at Snowbird Resort in Utah . As part of their destruction - of - time of year festivities , They spread the refuge for a huge party Memorial day weekend . Everyone shows up dressed in costume – from patriotic to absurd . We decided to take a few runs at the conclusion of the day before the partying let too wild for us to ski safely any further . I snap this picture of a supporter who decided to have a little sport after a few beer , and right before he wiped out on a massive jump . Camera info : Canon T3i , 1/30 , f/11 iso 200

Strawberry Pie

My baby give me this pie to celebrate both of our birthday . Mine is on May 20th and her ’s the 28th . I received my first DSLR tv camera for my natal day this year from my in - laws . After taking some great photos of the wife and dogs I pretty much gave up trying to find a Memorial Day entry for this contest . So I cut a piece of pie and sit down to look on something on the DVR . I built a Windows Media Center HTPC using a Ceton quad piano tuner circuit card . The gentle / purplish manifestation on the fork is from the tv connect to the HTPC . powerhouse

Memorial day weekend doubled as a goodbye company for Justine . After serving several years in the Guard , she was going to leave for the Marines Tuesday . I ’ve shot her respiration fire several time and wanted to try something dissimilar this last time . So she let loose one last time in front of a bunch of champion and family as I laid down in front of her . Used a Nikon D800 at 2000th of a second at F10 .

Vietnam Memorial

SONY DSC - WX150 Focal Length – 4.45 mm Exposure Time- 0.008s ( 1.125 ) f/8 ISO 100 The fact that the Kentucky Vietnam Memorial is second from my habitation made for a convenient , albeit reflective shoot . I seek to make it there double a class to give my respects and Leslie Townes Hope have the honour of speaking with some veterans , and hearing their stories . This time I spoke with a couple of Korean War veterans- primarily in regards to how no one comes to pay their respect any longer . That we ’ve fundamentally forgotten them . I was shocked when I was thanked by THEM for come to the memorial . The memorial is in reality a giant sundial , and the lead of the phantasma wander upon each veteran at the day of remembrance of their death . I took this an hour or two before sunset , freehand , with my Sony point and shoot . I do n’t have the knowledge or equipment to take in truth breathtaking shots , but I wish to mean I have an optic for capturing those great moments when genuine lensman left their tv camera at home .

Misty Eyed

I go to the San Francisco National Cemetery where they put a flag at each grave stone , and they were preparing for a great presentation . I was diffident if it would be insensitive to be taking pictures at the cemetery so I kind of went to the way of life back where I ’d be out of the way . It was really brumous and a lot of my shots were ruined because I did not realize that water droplets formed on my electron lens , but I did get a few OK shots . I used my macro crystalline lens , the iso was 100 , shutter speed 1/320 , and aperture 3.0

Vertigo

I enjoy doing night photography and being that the lunation was full and undimmed i decided to maneuver out and start my nightly enterprise . I remember hearing about how the local veteran memorial has voluntary set up flags at the headstones as they do at Arlington . With the amount of rainfall we had that morning i was surprised to see the volunteers had really set about all 20,000 flag down . have two older blood brother in the military , one a disabled vet and one alive tariff , and being in the military myself . Its an honor to be among those who have served and are serving . Not just in the U.S military but all military machine ’s globally . Lantern Floating

“ Lantern float Hawaii is a ceremony where all can arrive together for a personal and collective moment of memorial , reflection , and offering gratitude to those who have go before us . Held annually on Memorial Day on Oʻahu ’s south shore , it bring together over 40,000 people on the beach , join by chiliad around the public via live cyclosis and telecast for an evening of honoring loved ones and generating collective promise toward the future . ” — lanternfloatinghawaii.com I was favourable to get this scene of this particular lantern . There were literally yard of lanterns floating in the ocean . It is amazing how an affair like this can be fabulously howling yet deeply personal at the same time . In the dark I really could n’t secern what ’s publish on the lantern . When I found what I have captured later at home , I think , I had to submit this one . Because these words , more so than my effigy , so on the button captures what Memorial Day is all about . Canon 5D Mark III with EF24 - 105 millimetre f/4L IS @ 65 mm 1/200 , f/4 , ISO 1000

POW - MIA

My town puts one flag for every branch of the military and a POW - MIA signal flag on that flagstaff every year for Memorial Day . I think it would be great to get a shot from below looking straight up at all the flags dither together . The only problem was when I went to get the shot there was zero wind . And on the rare social function the malarkey come , it only was enough to get the big American masthead going . So I had to rethink the spot . I walked around for a bit until I saw that all the telephone pole also had different flags on them . The POW - MIA flag juxtapose with the American sword lily I suppose is the secure example of Memorial Day because today we remember the sacrifices that these people give for our res publica . He Reluctantly concord

television camera : Canon Rebel XS Lens : 17 - 85 mm ISO : 400 farad - plosive : f/5.6 I was with my some friends Sunday afternoon horseback riding on Foothills Parkway in east Tennessee , and we came across this valet . He was alone next to a motorcycle mob . I ask my booster to break so I could take his picture . He reluctantly agreed to let me take his picture . He already set the scene with his handle streak stache , cock-a-hoop truck , no shirt , and the American sword lily behind him .

Thanks to everyone for contract the time to enter this hebdomad ’s challenge — on a vacation , no less ! I was peculiarly taken by our victor because , even though we ’ve all seen shots framed like this before , the white blowout in the sky actually blends into a white backcloth utterly , stir the spirit of infinity . And if you ’d like any of these photos in gamey declaration , headto flickr .
